Welcome to Adventure to Live Better
Explore. Exercise. Eat. Repeat.
One of the big reasons why I wanted to transform my health was so that I could go on living a long life that is FULL of adventure. When I looked at it that way it was clear to me that I should be incorporating a heavy dose of adventure into my life and daily fitness routine. Weight loss never sounded better!
What is adventure fitness? Try starting with these:
- Get out and explore your neighborhood, city, state, and beyond! If I walk around one of my favorite waterfront parks in Silverdale for an hour I could burn almost 400 calories for my height and weight. (Calculate your burn here: www.healthstatus.com) Burn calories while you have fun exploring a new part of town!
- Participate in a sport or outdoor recreation activity weekly or biweekly. One way I am burning fat and building muscle is through weekly climbing sessions at Island Rock Gym. Shop around and find a sport or activity that you really enjoy. It helps make exercise an effortless part of your lifestyle.
- Spice things up and try something completely new. Get really adventurous this week and sign up for that indoor cycling class you've been meaning to try or explore a new hike like Green Mountain via Gold Creek Trail. One of the first things I bought when I moved to the Pacific Northwest was a copy of Day Hike!: Olympic Peninsula, by Seabury Blair Jr. (Yes I was partial to this trail guide due to the author's last name.)
A MAJOR part of healthy living happens in the kitchen. I am dedicated to finding the best way to fuel my body for adventure and weight loss at the same time. So, I'll be looking for recipes, meal plans, snack ideas, and nutrition information. Please send me an email if you have some expert nutritional advice, a favorite recipe, or favorite on-the-go snacks.
